Abstract: I shall discuss the construction of modular tensor category structures on categories of modules for vertex operator algebras satisfying suitable uniqueness,finiteness and reductivity conditions. Combining with the work of Turaev and Bakalov-Kirillov, we obtain modular functors and 3-dimensional topological field theories. These results are part of a program to construct conformal field theories in the sense of Kontsevich and Segal from representations of vertex operator algebras. | ||
