Abstract: Cluster algebras have become an important object in many areas of mathematics and mathematical physics. A cluster algebra is constructed from quiver mutations. A maximal green sequence is a certain sequence of quiver mutations given by a sequence of vertices of the quiver.
The existence of a maximal green sequence for a quiver seems to be related to whether the cluster algebra A it generates is equal to its upper cluster algebra U. Gross, Hacking, Keel and Kontsevich showed that if A = U and a maximal green sequence exists, then the Fock-Goncharov canonical basis conjecture holds. In my lectures, I'll discuss the property of A=U and the existence of maximal green sequences. Also some related properties including positivity will be mentioned.
