Abstract: The talk is about uniqueness of invariant linear functionals. I will introduce the notion of a Gelfand pair and a multiplicity one pair, and their characterizing properties in the context  of finite groups. I will then discuss some recent advances on multiplicity one classical pairs and uniqueness of a certain exceptional model for GL(6) representations.
