Title: Cusp volume of fibered 3-manifolds

Abstract: We use the action of the holomony homoemorphism on the arc
complex to give estimates the cusp volume of the associated fibered
3-manifolds.

Dr. Francois Gueritaud, University of Paris, France

Title: Canonical triangulations and the pleating lamination
conjecture

Abstract: The pleating lamination conjecture says that quasifuchsian
groups are parametrized by how the boundary of their convex core is
"bent". We will outline a proof in the only known case, when the
underlying surface is a punctured torus. As a byproduct we will
triangulate the convex core in a way which is canonical both in a
combinatorial sense (relating to the bending) and, independently, in
a geometric sense (as a generalized Epstein--Penner decomposition).

Dr. Shicheng Wang, Peking University

Title: On finiteness of maps on 3-manifolds and homomorphisms on
knot groups

Abstract: We will discuss results in the topics given by the title,
and point out that for the hyperbolic case the progresses are often
significant, and for some remaining cases, which are considered to
be very simple from view of 3-manifold classification, our knowledge
is almost zero.

Dr. Zheng Hao, Zhong Shang University

Title: Volume conjecture for some satellite knots

Abstract: The volume conjecture claims a connection between two
fairly different knot invariants. In this talk, I will show the
conjecture holds for some satellite knots, the Whitehead doubles of
the torus knots and the figure eight knot.
